Scout and review players
Give your technical director a verdict on a player they’re looking at, and, if the club has given you recruitment access, track the players you spot through the early stages.
Your technical director decides who the club goes after, but coaches see more players than anyone. This page covers two ways to feed that in. Any coach can be asked for a player review: your verdict on a player the club is looking at. And if the club has given you recruitment access, you can also track the players you spot yourself.
These player reviews are about recruiting someone new. They're a different thing from the review meetings you hold with your own players' families, which are covered in Develop your players.
- Player reviews need no extra access. Your TD (or anyone working on recruitment) picks you as the reviewer, and the request comes to you.
- Recruitment needs access from the club. It's off for coaching staff by default, because a recruitment record holds children who aren't at the club yet and their parents' contact details. If you should have it, ask a club administrator.
- Offers stay with the club. Even with access, you work the scouting stages. Offers and signings are for club admins.
When someone wants your view on a player, you get a notification, Player review requested, saying who asked and which player. The request also sits at the top of your Home screen (A player review has been requested) until you've answered it.
Tap it to open the review. You'll see the player, their current club and age group, who asked and when, and their note under From the recruitment team. Any footage attached to the player plays right there. If none is attached, the screen says so, and the request is usually for your read from a trial or a game you've seen.
Here the request is for Kai Moretti, a midfielder from Bayside United, with the note Trialling with U13s Thursday — keen on your read before we shortlist. Choose your verdict (1):
| Verdict | Means |
|---|---|
| Pursue | Worth chasing: you'd recommend moving forward |
| Monitor | Keep an eye on them: not yet, but promising |
| Pass | Not for us right now |
Feedback is optional, but it's most of the value. Write it the way you'd brief a colleague: what stood out, the concerns, how they'd fit. Then tap Send review.
Before anything is sent, Clubhouse shows you who it's going to and the exact notification they'll read, for example Player review submitted, "Sam Halloran reviewed Kai Moretti: Pursue." Tap Send review and notify 1 person to send it, or Not yet to keep editing. Your verdict goes back to whoever asked, and your verdict is added to that player's recruitment record. You can't change a review once it's sent. If the request was withdrawn before you answered, the screen says This review is no longer active, and nothing more is needed from you.
With recruitment access, Recruitment appears in your menu (under More on a phone). Depending on what the club has given you, it has up to three tabs:
- Targets: the players the club is tracking.
- Coaches: the coaches the club is talking to about joining.
- EOIs: people who've put their hand up through the club's expression of interest form.
If you only have one, there are no tabs; the page just opens on it.
Tap Add Target. Search for the player by name, or tap Can't find them? Add manually. Choose the Target Squad you'd recruit them for, add a note on why, and tap Add Target. New players start in Identified.
A one-line note on what you saw is worth more to your TD than a perfectly filled-in form.
Players move through six stages: Identified, Contacted, Interested, Trial, Offered and Signed. You can move a player between the first four. Offered and Signed are the club's decisions; you can see who's there, but if you try to move someone in or out, you'll see Offers and signings are handled by club admins. When a player you rate is ready for an offer, tell your TD.
On a computer the stages are columns you can drag between. On a phone you get a list; open a player and change their stage from the label at the top.
Open a player to work on them. You can update their contact details and target squad, add notes, and add to their Activity (a note, a contact or a meeting). You can see their footage, career history and any reviews. Tap Request review to ask another staff member for their verdict. Choose the Reviewer, add a note if it helps, and tap Continue: Clubhouse shows you the notification they'll get (Player review requested, saying who asked and which player) before you tap Request review and notify 1 person.
Everyone with recruitment access at the club reads these records, so write them for the next person.
Each expression of interest arrives as New. Open it to read the whole submission, then use the buttons at the bottom: Add to pipeline makes them a target without retyping anything, and Reviewed, Shortlist or Dismiss records your read. A family who has filled in the form is keen now, so a first read within the week matters. Recruitment from your coach portal sets out exactly what each level of access includes.
- Your Home screen no longer shows A player review has been requested.
- Players you've spotted are on the Targets list with a note on why, not just in your head.
- New EOIs have had a first read within the week.
