Run two competitions in one programme
When your senior side enters the Australian Championship, the campaign sits inside the programme you already run. The sidebar follows the competition being played, and one dropdown on Squads compares the rosters.
A senior side that enters the Australian Championship (a men's competition today) is playing two competitions with one group of players: the league season it was always in, and a campaign with its own draw, its own squad list and its own group tables. Keeping them as two separate programmes would mean two places to check and two lists to keep in step. So Clubhouse puts the campaign inside the programme you already run, and works out for you which of the two you're in at any moment.
- The two competitions share one sidebar when you have access to both. If you can only reach one of them, it appears as a programme of its own.
- Wherever the campaign is named on its own, as on Squads, it goes by the name your club uses for it in the sidebar, such as Aus Champs.
While the campaign is live, the programme opens on it. It counts as live from the moment the club has a squad entered for that year's edition until the final has been played, so the preparation block counts too. Until Football Australia publishes the edition's round dates, the programme keeps opening on the league. The rest of the year the programme opens on the league. You don't switch anything: at the end of the league season your sidebar is already pointing at the Championship, and after the final it goes back.
The sidebar stays inside the competition you're in, so a tap never moves you from one to the other without saying so:
- During the league, the sidebar lists every row from both competitions. Workouts belongs to the campaign when it's the Championship's preparation block that has been published, and tapping it takes you into the Championship.
- During the Championship, the sidebar lists only the Championship's own rows, and the top of the screen never changes back to the league partway through. IDPs, and Retention where your club runs it for the league, aren't listed. To reach them, pick the league in the Competition dropdown on
Squads, and the sidebar shows the league's rows again.
The Championship has a Season Plan of its own. Clubhouse drafts it once, when the campaign squad is first entered, from Football Australia's round dates: a preparation phase, the group stage and the finals, with the first round and the finals as key dates. You can edit it like any other Season Plan. Coach development plans stay on the league's Season Plan, because each coach has one plan for the whole year.
The two competitions hold genuinely different lists of people, since the Championship squad is the group listed with Football Australia rather than everyone on your league roster. That makes Squads the one page with a choice to make. A Competition dropdown sits beside Season, listing the league and the campaign by name.
Picking the other competition takes you to that competition's Squads page, so you're comparing like with like. Check the campaign roster here before each Championship round, because it's a different list from the one you pick the league side from.
Matches shows the competition you're in. During the campaign that's the Championship: its draw, results and the group tables under Ladder. Before Football Australia publishes the draw, the page says The draw has not landed yet. The draw is the competition's own, so trial games you add with Add trial game sit beside it rather than in it: the next one is named inside the draw's headline match, and all of them are listed under the draw in Club trial games.
To look back at the league while the Championship is on, pick the league programme in the Program picker at the top of Matches. It lists every programme at the club, the Championship included, so it's also how you reach the campaign from anywhere else. An old link to the Championship hub takes you to Matches too, since that's where the campaign lives now.
Contracts keeps the competition you're in, and that matters because the two rosters have different salary caps. Each contract records the competitions it covers, so check that line when you sign a player for the campaign. The detail is in Open Contracts and read your roster.
- During the campaign, the programme opens on the Championship without you choosing it, and
Matchesshows its draw and group tables. - On
Squads, the Competition dropdown moves you between the league and campaign rosters, and the campaign roster matches the list you've given Football Australia. - After the final, the programme opens on the league again.
