Watch highlights and clips

When the club films a match, you don’t have to scrub through the whole game. Your child’s own moments, the coach’s clips and their work rate come to you, ready to watch.

A filmed match is the best feedback a young player can get, but nobody has time to watch a whole game looking for one child. So the app does the looking. It picks out Milan's own moments, collects the clips his coach tags, and tells you when each is ready.

Before you start

  • Footage only exists when the club filmed the match. Not every club films, and not every game.
  • A recording takes a few hours to process after full time, so expect footage later on match day or the day after.
  • Keep Clubhouse notifications on. They're the quickest way to hear that footage is ready.

Two kinds of footage, two notifications

A filmed match can give you two things, and each one has its own notification.

Milan's reel. The camera follows the ball and picks out every moment Milan is involved, then puts them together as his own reel. You hear about it as soon as it's ready:

Milan's reel is ready 🎬 — 12 moments

Underneath, the notification names the result and, when the camera tracked him well, how far he ran and his top speed. For example: Milan's reel from the 3–1 win over Coastline FC — 8.4 km and a 26.1 km/h top speed. Tap to watch. Tap it and the reel starts playing straight away, with the sound off until you turn it on.

The coach's clips. Coaches tag the moments they want to talk about, such as a goal, a good press or something to fix. That notification reads New clip of Milan (or 3 new clips of Milan), and it waits for the squad's next video session at training, or a few hours if none is scheduled. That way players usually see it with their coach first, then at home.

Each notification takes you to the match's Video tab, and you get at most one of each per match. A clip the coach adds after the team session just appears on the Video tab.

The Video tab

A finished match that was filmed has a Video tab next to Results. You can also get there from Matches: open Results, then tap the match.

The Video tab on a filmed match. Highlights at the top and the clips underneath, each one a moment rather than a whole game to scrub through.
  • The player sits at the top. Switch between Highlights and Full for the whole match when the club has both, and use Download to keep a copy.
  • Below it are the clips. When both kinds exist you'll see Coaching for the coach's clips and Auto for the ones the camera picked. When there's only one kind, they're together under Clips.
  • Search clips... and the All Players and All Tags filters narrow a long list.

When Milan has a reel, it's the first tab, labelled with his name and a count, like Milan (12), and it opens first.

  • The Show menu narrows the reel to one kind of moment, such as Shots (3), or goes back to All moments (12).
  • Play runs the moments one after another, and you can step to the previous or next moment.
  • Each moment is labelled with what happened, such as Duel · Pass, so you can jump to the ones you care about.

Milan's numbers from the match

On the Results tab of a filmed match, under the score, Milan's Match Stats shows his minutes and what the camera measured.

  • Work rate shows how far he covered, his top speed, sprints and fast runs. Once there are earlier filmed matches to compare with, each figure sits next to his season average. If the camera lost him for part of the game, a note says how many minutes of the match it tracked, so a low distance isn't mistaken for a quiet game.
  • On the ball shows up to four counts of what he did most, such as passes, duels, shots or tackles, and says tap to watch. Tap one and the Video tab opens on Milan's reel showing only those moments, so you can watch every tackle in a row.

For the season view, the Health tab has a Work rate tab with Milan's running across every filmed match. Squads that wear GPS vests see their GPS figures there instead.

Where clips go next

Clips are useful beyond the drive home. On Milan's development plan, he or you can attach video to a goal. The picker offers My moments, Coach clips and Highlights, or you can upload your own (MP4, MOV or WEBM, up to 200MB), such as a clip filmed from the sideline. A goal that says “beat the first defender” with three clips of him doing it gives the coach something real to talk about. Your child's development plan covers the rest.

If the footage isn't there

  • No Video tab: the match probably wasn't filmed. Ask the team manager before assuming something went wrong.
  • No reel for Milan: the camera only credits a moment to a player when it can read his shirt number clearly. If two players wore the same number, the club holds the moments back rather than risk sending them to the wrong family.
  • No notification for a trial game: a trial game only sends clip notifications when the club left its notifications on. The clips are still on its Video tab.
  • Coach's clips haven't arrived: they wait for the squad's next video session at training (or a few hours if none is scheduled), so they can come a few days after the reel.

Match video and highlights has more on the footage and the team's match stats.

Check it worked

  • You opened a match's Video tab and played a highlight.
  • You opened Milan's reel and narrowed it to one kind of moment.
  • You tapped an On the ball count and watched those moments back to back.
  • Milan knows his best clips can go on a development-plan goal.
