Report and track an injury

Tell the club physio about an injury in two minutes from your phone, then follow the recovery in one place: status, expected return, rehab, and the notes you add from specialist visits.

When your child picks up an injury, the physio needs to know what happened, where it hurts and when, before the next session rather than at it. Reporting it in the app puts it straight onto the physio's list, tells the coach your child is unavailable, and gives you one place to follow the recovery instead of chasing updates in a group chat.

Your first season

New to the club this season? Before the season starts, Health has no Injuries tab and says it will appear once the season is under way. You don't need to set anything up. If your child does get hurt, this is the whole path.

  1. Report it from your phone, under Report it. Two minutes, and the physio has it.
  2. Know what happens next, under What happens next.
  3. Follow the recovery in one place, under Follow the recovery, and add your own updates after any specialist visit.

Before you start

  • Injuries live under Health, on the Injuries tab. A parent can report for their child, and a player can report on their own login.
  • Injury reporting is switched on programme by programme. If the tab says Injury tracking isn't available, the club's medical team doesn't cover your child's team, so tell the coach or team manager directly.
  • Before the season starts, Health doesn't show the Injuries tab. If nothing else is on yet, it says Daily check-ins, injury reporting and return-to-play updates all appear here once the season is under way. If your child is already training with the squad, marking them Injured on a session still opens the report form.
  • Have the date it happened, and any physio or GP letter to hand if you have one.

Report it

There are two ways in, and both open the same form.

  1. From availability. Mark your child Injured on a session or match, add a short note and save. The injury form opens straight after, so one action tells the coach they're out and the physio why.
  2. From Health. On the Injuries tab, tap Report an injury (or Report new injury if you already have one listed).

The form is titled Report an injury, For Milan, and asks only what the physio needs:

FieldWhat to put
Where is the injury? The body region. This is the one required field.
Which side? (optional)Left, Right or Bilateral.
When did it happen?Today or an earlier date.
What happened? (optional)Plain words, for example Rolled ankle at Saturday's game, still swollen.
Attach physio report (optional)Choose a file: PDF, PNG, JPG or WEBP, up to 10 MB.

Tap Report injury and you're done. You don't need to message anyone.

Only the body region is required (1). Everything else helps the physio, and Report injury (2) puts it on their list.

What happens next

The physio treating your child gets a notification straight away (New injury reported), or every club physio if nobody is treating them yet. The injury sits on their list as Pending review until they've assessed it. At the same time the squad's coaches and technical director are told your child is unavailable, with the note Reported by family. Marked unavailable pending review, so selection plans around it.

Follow the recovery

Each injury on the tab shows the area and side, a status, the expected return date once the physio sets one, and the latest update. Tap it for the detail.

One injury, one thread. The rows at the top (1) answer how long, and Add an update (2) gets a specialist’s advice to the physio the same day.

At the top are the status, Expected return and Treating staff (1). Below that, any Rehab / training program the physio has set, then the Updates from the club, each marked Medical team with the clinician's name. The status tells you where the recovery is up to:

StatusWhat it means
Pending reviewReported, and the physio hasn't assessed it yet.
ActiveBeing treated. Your child isn't training normally.
Modified returnBack training, on the physio's terms: reduced load or restrictions.
Chronic managementA longer-running condition that's being managed rather than fixed.

When the physio clears your child, you get a notification with the dates that matter, for example Cleared to return. Back at training 18 Oct, available for matches from 24 Oct. The injury then leaves your list. The club keeps the full record.

Add your own updates

Recovery often involves people outside the club: a GP, a specialist, an imaging clinic. Add an update (2) is how their advice reaches the physio the same day, in their words rather than a second-hand summary.

Fill in What happened?, and if it came from an appointment, the Practitioner name and Practitioner role. The update then reads After seeing the practitioner and their role. Add a letter or scan with Attach a document (optional), then tap Submit update. The treating physio is notified (or every club physio if nobody is treating your child yet), and the update appears in the thread.

What you'll hear, and what you won't

You get a notification whenever the physio shares an update with the family: a change of status, a rehab programme, a referral, or the clearance. You can switch off the status, rehab and referral messages with Medical Status Updates in your notification preferences. Concussion and return-to-play messages always come, even with it off: the clearance, and every concussion message below. Clinical notes between the physio and other staff stay with the medical team, so a quiet thread doesn't mean nothing is happening. The return-to-play decision is the physio's, made on assessment. The app is where you'll see it.

Concussion

A concussion follows Football Australia's graduated return to play: a set of steps, each with a minimum number of days before it can start, and the final steps need the physio's sign-off. The injury shows a Concussion return to play card so you can see where your child is up to.

The concussion ladder, read-only for families. Green steps are done, and the later steps unlock as the symptom-free days build.

Completed steps are green, the current step shows what your child can do at training, and the later steps stay locked until their day comes. You'll be notified when the plan is ready (Milan Salib — concussion GRTP plan ready. Tap to view the schedule.), when it changes, and when each step is confirmed, with the next step's date where it's set. If the coach reports symptoms at training you're told straight away, and the physio reviews before the next step. Only the physio restarts the count, and you're told when they do. Tell the physio straight away about any headache, dizziness or trouble concentrating, even if it seems small.

Confirm it worked

  • The injury went into the app the day it happened, not into a group chat.
  • You know the current status and the expected return date.
  • Any letter from a GP or specialist is attached as an update.
  • Your child shows as unavailable, so the coach plans around them.
