Get started as a video analyst

Know whether footage is arriving, which matches still need a review, and when each squad sits down for video, from the dashboard you land on.

Your portal is one workspace for every programme you cover. Every deck, every recorded match and every squad's training week sit together, so you never switch squads to find your work. It also starts a step ahead: when a match recording comes through from Veo, Clubhouse has already made an empty deck for it. Most weeks your time goes on choosing the moments and building the review, not on setting anything up.

Before you start

  • Sign in on the Club Staff tab. You land on the Video Analysis dashboard.
  • Your staff role needs to be Video Analyst. If you land somewhere else, ask a club administrator to change it.
  • If you're assigned to particular programmes, the portal opens on those. With no programme assignments you see the whole club.
  • Footage arrives by itself only if your club has connected Veo. Without it, recordings are added to each match by hand (see Use a fixture's Video tab).

Read the dashboard

The dashboard answers the questions that start every week: is footage coming in, how much of the weekend is still untouched, and when does each squad sit down for video.

The sync line (1) says whether footage is arriving, and Upcoming Video Training (2) says when each squad sits down for video.
  • The sync line (1) says whether Veo footage is still arriving. The next section covers what its colours mean.
  • Not started counts the decks nobody has touched yet, for matches in the last eight days.
  • In progress counts every deck that's been started but not presented. It has no time limit, so a review left half-built a fortnight ago keeps showing until you finish or delete it.
  • Presented counts the decks shown to a squad in the past seven days.
  • Recent Presentations lists the five decks edited most recently, so last night's work is one click away. All presentations beside it opens the full list.
  • Upcoming Video Training (2) lists the next five sessions with a video block in the coming fortnight, for your programmes and the keepers: squad, day, start time, length and venue. Cancelled sessions drop off. Full week opens the Training page.

Each of the three counts opens Presentations. A club event waiting on your RSVP, such as a presentation night, appears above them until you reply.

Nothing in your video work sends you a notification. A new recording, a new deck and a moved session all arrive quietly, so the dashboard is where you find out. Make it the first thing you open.

Check footage is arriving

Everything you build depends on recordings reaching Clubhouse, so read the sync line before anything else. Most of the time it's grey with a green dot, such as Veo footage synced 2h ago, and you can move on. Clubhouse checks Veo every 20 minutes from Saturday morning to Tuesday morning, and hourly for the rest of the week. Once your club's season is over it checks twice a day, so an older time is normal then.

  • Amber means nothing has come through for six hours (a little over a day once the season is over), or Veo has been connected but hasn't synced yet. It usually clears on the next check.
  • Rose means footage is missing: the sync has hit a problem, the Veo account is no longer connected, or nothing has come through for a day (three days out of season). The line ends Let your club administrator know. Reconnecting Veo is their job, not yours.

If your club doesn't use Veo there's no sync line at all.

When a match you know was filmed hasn't appeared, check this line before you chase anyone about the recording.

Work through the week's decks

Every deck in your programmes, grouped by match. The Stage filter (1) turns it into the week’s to-do list.

Presentations lists every deck in your programmes, grouped by match. The Stage filter (1) is how you work through the week:

  • Not started: made from the recording, nothing saved yet. Opening a deck to look doesn't move it. Your first change does.
  • In progress: someone has saved a change.
  • Presented: shown to the squad, full screen or on a Club TV screen. The deck moves here by itself when you finish presenting.

The filter also offers Shared and Archived, but nothing you do moves a deck to either. Sharing a deck's link doesn't change its stage, so check the deck itself to see whether a link has gone out.

On each row, both untouched and part-built decks read Draft. Use the Stage filter, not the row, to tell them apart.

Two kinds of deck don't come from a recording. A row with a Pre-match pill is a deck that puts a match's starting XI on screen before kick-off, and anything under Pre-season plans at the top of the list is a coach's lineup plan for next season. The coach's guide covers both.

The Monday routine: set Stage to Not started and the weekend's matches are lined up. Each deck is named for its match and arrives with the club's standard structure, a Match Review title slide and four section headings: This Week's Focus, Standards to Elevate, Positives to Reinforce and Coach's Clips. There are no clips in it. Picking the moments is the analysis, so Clubhouse leaves that to you.

Use the Program filter to work one programme at a time, and the search box (Search by opponent, squad or title) to find one deck in a long season.

For a deck of your own, such as an opposition report or a themed session, use the two buttons at the top of the list. New Presentation starts from a match, or from a training recording as an Internal match, and GK Presentation starts from the keepers (covered in the goalkeeping guide). Pick a match that already has a deck and Clubhouse opens that one rather than making a second. Building and presenting the review is the next page: Turn match footage into Club TV.

Find your way around

The sidebar follows your week:

  • Presentations: every deck, as above.
  • Training: each squad's week, with a filter for the sessions that include a video block. See Plan the week around video segments.
  • Matches: fixtures and results for your programmes. Open a finished match for its footage on the Video tab, covered in Use a fixture's Video tab. A red dot shows when a club match is live.
  • Calendar: training, matches and club events together, to look at only.
  • Club TV: the clubroom screens you present on.

On a phone, the dashboard is Home and Presentations is Present. If a club administrator has given you extra access, such as recruitment or surveys, it appears at the end of the list. The full map, including settings, is in the portal answer.

Confirm it worked

  • You can say, without asking anyone, whether footage is arriving.
  • You clear Not started each week, rather than watching it grow.
  • You know which programmes you cover, and you narrow the list with the filters rather than looking for a squad switcher.
