Plan the week around video segments

See which squads sit down for video this week, when each block starts and how long it runs, so every deck is finished and sized before the room fills.

Every deck has a deadline, even though none is written on it: the training session whose video block it plays in. The Training page is where those deadlines sit. Read it at the start of the week and you know which reviews are due, when each room fills, and how many minutes you'll have with the players.

Before you start

  • Training is in your portal's sidebar. It shows every squad in the club, not only your programmes, because your block sits inside other people's sessions.
  • Video blocks are added to a session by whoever sets that squad's training schedule. If a squad expects a review every week and no block shows here, that's the first conversation to have.
  • Nothing on this page can be changed from your portal. To move a block or add one, ask the squad's coach or a club administrator, and the change shows here the next time you open or refresh the page.

Find this week's video blocks

Training covers the next eight weeks, a week at a time, with days before today folded away. Between seasons, when no squad in the club trains in the next eight weeks, it opens on the week training resumes instead. Three filters narrow it:

  • Program opens on All Programs. Pick one programme to see it on its own; a programme whose season hasn't started yet opens on its first weeks of training. The page remembers your choice for next visit.
  • Squad narrows to one team.
  • Segment is the one that's yours. Set it to Video only and every session without a video block drops away, leaving the week's reviews. It goes back to All sessions each time you open the page, so an unexpectedly empty week isn't hiding behind it.
Every squad’s week. The Segment filter (1) is where you switch to Video only.

Each row shows the squad, the arrival time when it's earlier than the start, the session's time, and how many players are available (such as 14/15). A session with a video block also carries a label with the block's own start time, such as Video 5:30pm. That's your deadline, not the session's start. When the label adds · after, the block begins once training finishes. Without it, the block runs before or during the session. The session's time covers the whole evening, video block included.

Goalkeeping sessions aren't listed under any one programme, so they show only under All Programs. The dashboard's Upcoming Video Training includes keeper sessions alongside your programmes', so the next few are there too.

Size the deck to the block

Blocks aren't all the same length, and a 15-minute junior block won't hold a deck built for a 30-minute senior one. The week list doesn't show a block's length, so take it from Upcoming Video Training on your dashboard, which shows the next five blocks: each one's day, start time, length and venue, such as Youth Goalkeepers on Thu 8 Oct at 7:15pm for 30 minutes at Harbourview Reserve. Blocks further out appear there as the earlier ones pass. Build backwards from those minutes, leaving time for the discussion that makes a review worth having.

Opening a session from the week list shows its date, time and venue, the session plan if the coach has attached one (worth reading to see what they want to work on), and a banner if it's been cancelled or its time or venue has changed. It doesn't show the player list, and it doesn't repeat the video block's time, so keep the week list or dashboard to hand for that.

Keep up with changes

A moved or cancelled session doesn't notify you unless you're also on that squad's staff. Nor does a new recording or a new deck. So check the dashboard each time you open the portal: the sync line, the Not started count and Upcoming Video Training are how you find out what changed. For the month at a glance, Calendar shows training, matches and club events together.

If a video block is missing

Set Segment back to All sessions first. If the session is there without a video label, it simply has no block, and adding one is a conversation with the coach. If you can't find the session at all, set Program to All Programs, which is also where keeper sessions live.

Confirm it worked

  • You can name every video block this week, with squad, day, start time and minutes, without asking anyone.
  • Each deck is sized to its block before you build, not trimmed in the room.
  • A moved session doesn't catch you out, because you check the week each visit rather than remembering last week's.
