Your week as a team manager
Your squad, its training and its next match on one phone screen, so you have the answer before the coach, a player or a family has to ask.
A good week for a team manager is one where nobody has to chase anything: you already know who's available for Saturday, that training moved, and which players are carrying an injury. Clubhouse gives you that picture straight from the coach's and physio's own records, and tells you the moment something changes, so you're never working from a second-hand list.
- Your club admin assigns you to a squad. You can't add yourself, and if you sign in and see No squads assigned, that's the conversation to have with them.
- Clubhouse sends you a notification when it's done: "You're now a Team Manager", with "You've been assigned as team manager for BYL U16." underneath. Tapping it opens your Home page.
- If you manage an under-18 squad, you need a current Working With Children Check. If you haven't recorded yours, open
Settingsfrom your avatar, thenCompliance, and tapAdd WWC details. If it stays missing, or expires, past your club's grace period, Clubhouse shows a Working With Children Check required page in place of the team manager app until it's sorted. Stay connected covers keeping it current.
If managing is your only role at the club, you land straight on your squad's Home page. If you also hold another role, such as a coaching role or a family account, tap your avatar and choose your manager seat. It shows Team Manager with the squad underneath, such as BYL U16, one entry for each squad you manage, and a squad whose season has finished is shown greyed out and marked Season complete. Switching squads while you're looking at a match or session takes you to the top of that section for the new squad. Managing more than one squad has the detail.
Along the bottom of your phone are five tabs: Home, Squad, Training, Matches and Calendar. On a computer they run down a sidebar under your club's crest, and the panel icon beside the crest collapses it to icons only when you want the room.
Home answers the week's questions from the top down.
- A club event waiting on your reply sits first, with
Replyand the reply-by date where the club has set one. This is the one piece of club admin on the page that's yours to answer. - Next Training counts down (Today, Tomorrow or a number of days), names the session plan or says No session plan set, and shows how many players are available. If any players have said they can't come, the number who are out appears alongside. Tap it to open the Training list.
- Next Match shows the opponent, kick-off, venue and the same availability count. Tap it to open the match. On match day it changes to a live score with
Enter Live Match, and it keeps itself up to date while the game is on. Once your season is over, the card says how it finished, for example Premiers — Grand Final winners or Regular season complete. - Recent Results lists your last five scorelines, with any live game at the top.
See allopens the full results. - Injury List appears only when someone in the squad is injured. It counts players who are unavailable, on a modified return, being monitored or back training, and how many reviews are overdue. Each row names the player and injury with an expected return, such as 2 weeks or TBC. The physio owns the detail. This is your briefing for kit, travel and paperwork.
Squad is the squad list: photo, name, preferred position and shirt number. The coach and club admin keep it, so a player who's missing or listed twice is a message to them.
Training has two tabs, Upcoming and Complete.
Each upcoming session shows its date, time, session plan (or No plan) and availability, plus the venue on a tablet or computer. When the whole squad is available you see a single number; otherwise it reads as available out of the squad, like 14/15. The next session is marked NEXT, and a called-off session is marked Cancelled, with the reason shown when you hover over it on a computer.
Complete lists past sessions with an attendance count. If the coach didn't take the roll for a session, that number is the availability beforehand rather than who turned up, so check with the coach before you quote it.
Neither list opens into more detail, and neither can be edited from here. The coach runs the training schedule and the roll, and the squad and training answer says who to ask for each kind of change.
You don't have to keep refreshing these pages to stay ahead. For each squad you manage, Clubhouse sends you the same squad news the coaches get:
- Reminders before each session and match, headed "Training Reminder" or "Match Reminder".
- Changes the moment the coach saves them, such as "BYL U16 training cancelled" or "BYL U16 training venue changed". A match that moves or is called off arrives as "BYL U16 vs Coastline FC" with the change underneath, like Match postponed.
- Availability: when a family marks a player away or sick, you'll see something like "Jack Muller, BYL U16 — Away".
- Injuries and suspensions: "Jack Muller, BYL U16 — Injured" when a family reports an injury, and "Suspension (BYL U16)" when a player picks up a suspension. You get the status, not the clinical detail, which stays with the physio.
Tapping a reminder, availability, injury or suspension notice opens the matching page in the team manager app. Stay connected covers the full list and how to switch categories off.
- Early in the week, look at the availability count for Saturday's match. If it's low, chase it in your team chat. Clubhouse shows the count but doesn't send reminders on your behalf.
- When a change notification arrives, pass it on in your team chat.
Trainingmarks a called-off session Cancelled, but a moved time or venue simply shows the new details, so the notification is your clearest record of what changed. - Before the weekend, read the Injury List and the availability count together, so kit, travel and match-day paperwork match who's actually playing.
- Before you commit the squad to anything, check
Calendarfor clashes: a shared ground, a club event on your training night, or another squad's fixture.
- You can reach your squad from your avatar in one tap, and the right squad's name heads the Home page.
- Saturday's availability count is complete by Thursday.
- You heard about the last training change from Clubhouse, before a player or family asked you about it.
