Quick answer

Managing more than one squad

Plenty of Team Managers run more than one squad — two youth age groups, a junior team and a senior team, or several squads in the same programme. Clubhouse is built for this. This article covers how the role switcher works, how to tell which squad you're looking at, and the quirk worth knowing about JDL programmes.

The role switcher

Tap your avatar at the top right of any manager portal page to open the role switcher. You'll see one entry per squad you manage:

Each entry reads Team Manager, with the squad underneath, for example BYL U13, GJDL U10 or Men's First Grade. A squad whose season has wrapped up is shown greyed out and marked Season complete.

Tap any entry to switch the active squad. Clubhouse keeps you in the same section — if you were on Training for one squad and switch to another, you land on Training for the new squad. (If you were deep in a match page, switching returns you to that section's list, since the match belongs to the old squad.) That makes it easy to compare two squads (e.g. "is U13 training the same night as U10?").

If you also coach a different squad, your coach seat(s) appear in the same role switcher under a separate heading. One tap moves you between coach and manager modes — you don't have to sign out.

Which squad am I looking at?

The Home page is titled with the squad you've chosen. On a computer, the foot of the sidebar also shows your seat (Team Manager, with the squad underneath) and opens the same switcher. The crest at the top of the screen is always your club's, including on a squad playing the Australian Championship, so go by the squad name rather than the crest.

Why JDL shows one row per age group

If you manage a JDL team (Mixed JDL or Girls JDL), you'll see one entry per age group in the role switcher — even though a Mixed JDL age group fields a Blue and a White team each week, and an age group can sit over more than one squad in Clubhouse.

This is intentional. You manage the age group as one group: the same players train together, you deal with the same families, and you do match day for the same group. Separate entries for each team would be confusing and wouldn't match how the squad actually runs.

So when your admin assigns you as Team Manager of "MJDL U9", you get one entry in your role switcher and one view of the squad, but Clubhouse silently records the assignment against every fixture squad in that age group so the MPIO compliance matrix is correct.

Other programs (BYL, GYL, Men's, Women's, Goalkeeping)

Outside JDL, each squad is its own first-class team — BYL U13 is one squad, BYL U14 is another, Men's First Grade is another. So if you manage two BYL age groups, you'll see two role switcher entries.

Notifications across squads

You're sent reminders, schedule changes, availability, injury status, suspension alerts and live scores for every squad you manage, and change notices name their squad (for example "BYL U13 training cancelled"). Notification preferences has a separate card and live score row for each squad, so you can quieten one without touching the others. You also get one notification when you're assigned (naming every squad in the assignment) and your WWC renewal reminders. See Notification preferences and calendar sync.

Calendar sync across squads

When you sync the manager calendar to your phone (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook), every squad's training and matches show up in a single feed. Each event is colour-coded or labelled so you can tell which squad it's for at a glance. See the calendar article for the setup steps.

Adding or changing assignments

Team Manager assignments are made by your club admin from the squads page in the admin portal. If you need to be added to a new squad, removed from one, or moved between squads, contact them — there is no self-service path for assignment changes (this is deliberate, so the player → manager mapping stays clean for safeguarding records).
