Coach the club’s goalkeepers
Every keeper in the club in one list, cohort training on a weekly pattern you set yourself, and a finals changeover that keeps sessions running for the keepers still playing.
Goalkeeping is the one coaching job that runs across the whole club. Your keepers are spread through every programme and age group, and they train with you in cohorts rather than with their match-day squads. The goalkeeper portal is built around that shape: one list of keepers, and a training week you set yourself instead of inheriting one.
Starting goalkeeping at a club with no cohort nights yet? Schedule reads No cohort sessions yet until you add one, because nobody else sets a keeper's training week. Work through it in this order.
- Check your keepers are in cohorts, under Know your keepers. The club admin sets the cohorts up. If
Goalkeeperssays "No goalkeepers assigned", that's the conversation to have first. - Set each cohort's weekly night, under Set your training week. Clubhouse creates the sessions from it, and families see them in their calendars.
- Put a plan on the first sessions, under Run the sessions.
- Start keeper development plans when the club runs them. See Run keeper development plans.
- Set finals training before the first keeper's season ends, under The finals changeover.
- Sign in on the Club Staff tab. Clubhouse opens on your Goalkeeping home: the next session for each cohort, with how many keepers are available, and a Reply card for any club event still waiting on you.
- A Goalkeeper Injuries card appears on the home screen whenever one of your keepers is carrying an injury. Tap a keeper to open their medical record. It lists five keepers, and + N more opens the rest.
- If you land in a different portal, your staff role isn't set to goalkeeper coach. If
Goalkeeperssays "No goalkeepers assigned", the cohorts haven't been set up. Both are for your club admin to fix.
The availability count on each session is coloured: green when 85% or more of the cohort is available, amber from 60%, red below that. Red two days out is your cue to combine cohorts or get on the phone.
Goalkeepers lists every keeper in the club, youngest to oldest. Each keeper has two affiliations, and the difference matters:
- Primary squad is the team they play for on the weekend, such as BYL U16. It sets the age group shown on their row.
- Cohorts are the goalkeeping groups they train with, listed under their name. In Harbourview's list, Aria Marlowe to Ella Salib train with JDL Goalkeepers and Oscar Rahman to Noah Ricci with Youth Goalkeepers. A keeper can sit in two cohorts, such as a U18 who trains with both the youth and senior groups.
A keeper with no primary squad drops to the bottom of the list. Ask your admin to set their squad.
Where the club has a connected Veo account, tapping a keeper opens their match analysis, and View profile there opens their player profile. Without Veo, the tap goes straight to the profile. It's the same profile the rest of the club uses, with tabs for Matches, Training, Development Plan and Medical among others. You can read their medical record there but not change it; that stays with the medical staff.
An outfield coach's sessions are set for them. Yours aren't: Schedule holds a weekly pattern for each cohort, and Clubhouse creates the sessions from it week by week. So the pattern is where you make a change that should last, like "Youth keepers move to Thursdays".
- Open
Scheduleand tap Add session (or the pencil on an existing night). Set the cohort, night, start time, duration and ground.+ Add S&Cand+ Add video analysisadd a gym or video block to the same night. - The editor shows the arrival time families will be given, from the club's reminder settings.
- Save. The sessions appear under
Training, and families see them in their calendars.
To copy a night to another day, open the row's More menu and pick a day under Duplicate to…. To stop a night altogether, choose Delete. The confirmation, "Remove Wednesday training?", explains that every future session is cancelled and taken off family calendars, while past sessions and attendance are kept.
The editor warns you in two cases: when the same cohort would train twice at overlapping times, and when a night's S&C and video blocks overlap each other. It doesn't check whether another squad has the ground that night, so coordinate venues with the club as you normally would.
Once squads reach finals, some of your keepers are still playing and some are finished. A notice appears on Schedule, "A squad in the finals needs training set", with a line for each cohort and how many of its keepers are still in the finals. Set finals training opens Finals training, where you:
- Choose when Regular season training ends and Finals training starts.
- Set each finals session's night and time.
- Under Keepers, name who the session is for. The keepers still in the finals are already ticked. Leave it empty and the whole cohort stays invited.
Named keepers are the only ones who see the session, and it shows PARTIAL in your Training list so you can tell it apart from a full cohort night.
Training lists your sessions under Upcoming and Complete. NEXT marks the next one, and the number on the right is how many keepers are expected. Tap a session to open it:
- Session plan. An empty session shows Plan your session.
Browse Libraryopens the club's templates for that age group; search or filter by phase, preview one, and tap Assign This Plan. Change and Remove sit on the plan afterwards. - Availability. Each keeper shows as Available, Modified, Away, Sick, Injured or Training up.
- Add Player has a Goalkeepers group at the top with every keeper in the club, so bringing a U15 up into the youth session takes two taps.
Attendance isn't recorded from the goalkeeper portal. The session's attendance count on the Complete tab comes from the club's own attendance records.
A one-off change belongs on the session, not the pattern, so next week goes back to normal. Open the session and tap Modify. Choose Change Time, Change Venue, Adjust S&C / Video or Cancel Session, and give a reason. Restore Original Schedule undoes an earlier change.
If you leave Notify players and parents on, saving opens a check before anything is sent. For a wet Thursday it reads "Cancel training for Youth Goalkeepers?", shows how many families and staff will hear, and quotes the message word for word. The button reads Cancel training and notify followed by the number of people, and Keep editing takes you back. The keepers' families get:
Youth Goalkeepers training cancelled Thu, 8 Oct. Ground closed after rain
A cancellation also goes by SMS. A time or venue change reads the same way, with the new time or ground and what it was. A sent message can't be recalled, so read the preview before you confirm. What families see is in Your season in the app.
If a session has no Modify button, it isn't one of your cohort sessions. Full session detail is in the GK training answer.
- Every cohort has a weekly pattern, and
Trainingshows real sessions coming from it. - No keeper sits at the bottom of
Goalkeeperswithout a primary squad. - Finals training was set before the first keeper finished their season, not after they turned up to an empty ground.
