Quick answer

How do I manage goalkeeper training sessions?

The Training section lists every goalkeeper session across your cohorts. Sessions are cohort-based rather than squad-based — one session can run for every JDL goalkeeper, for example, regardless of which match-day squad they play for.

Viewing sessions

  1. Tap Training in the navigation.
  2. Switch between the Upcoming and Complete tabs at the top.
  3. Each row shows the cohort icon, the cohort label (e.g. JDL Goalkeepers), the date, start time, and venue if different from your default.
  4. The attendee count on the right shows total expected for upcoming sessions, and attendance vs expected once a session is complete.

Two badges can appear on a session row:

  • NEXT — the first upcoming session in the list (your next scheduled session).
  • PARTIAL — only some of the cohort is invited. This comes from finals training: when you name Keepers on a finals session in Schedule, only those keepers see it.

Session detail

Tap any session to open the full detail page. This is the same session detail view the outfield coach uses, with a few GK-specific tweaks:

  • Roster label reads "Goalkeepers" rather than a squad name.
  • Add Player dropdown has a pinned Goalkeepers group at the top that combines every keeper across all your cohorts — so you can pull in a keeper from any age group as a guest without digging through individual squads.

From the session detail page you can:

  • Assign a session plan. Browse Library opens the club's session templates for the session's age group; pick one and tap Assign This Plan.
  • Manage availability. Each keeper's status (Available, Modified, Rehab, Away, Sick, Injured, Training up) appears in the roster. Tap the pencil at the end of a keeper's row to change their status.
  • Add guests and train-ups. Use the pinned Goalkeepers group or any cohort dropdown to add a keeper who isn't normally part of this cohort — for example pulling a talented U15 up into the Youth session.

Attendance isn't recorded from the goalkeeper portal; the count on the Complete tab comes from the club's attendance records.

Availability patterns

  • Green availability count means most keepers in the cohort have confirmed available.
  • Amber means 60–85% available — worth a nudge.
  • Red (under 60%) usually means the session is undersubscribed and you may want to combine it with another cohort or reach out to keepers who haven't responded.

Where the sessions come from

Sessions aren't created one at a time. Each cohort has a weekly pattern — the night, the start time, how long it runs, the ground, and whether there's a gym or video component — and Clubhouse creates the sessions from that pattern week by week. The pattern is yours to set: tap Schedule in the navigation, or the Schedule button in the header of the Training page.

Changing the pattern changes every future session it applies to, so it's the right place to go for "Youth keepers move to Thursdays" or "we're at North Caringbah for the rest of the season". A pattern's More menu offers Duplicate to… (copy it to another day) and Delete. The confirmation, for example "Remove Wednesday training?", cancels the future sessions and takes them off family calendars, while past sessions and attendance are kept. You can also set a separate finals pattern that takes over on a chosen date and name only the keepers who are still playing.

Two honest limits on the editor's warnings: it flags a clash only when the same cohort would train twice at overlapping times (and when a pattern's S&C and video components overlap each other). It does not check whether another squad has booked the same ground — coordinate venues with the club the old-fashioned way.

Moving or cancelling a single session

A one-off change — this Wednesday only, called off for weather — is made on the session itself, not on the pattern. Open the session from the Training list and use Modify: Change Time, Change Venue, Adjust S&C / Video (move or skip a component this week only) or Cancel Session. A reason is required. With Notify players and parents on, saving first opens a check showing who will hear and the exact message, with a button such as Cancel training and notify followed by the number of people. Families then get a notification such as "Youth Goalkeepers training cancelled — Thu, 1 Oct. Ground closed after rain", and a cancellation also goes by SMS. A sent message can't be recalled. The following week returns to the usual pattern.

The Calendar is read-only for goalkeeper coaches, so one-off changes are always made from the session in Training.

If a session has no Modify button, that one isn't yours to change. Ask whoever runs the programme it belongs to.

If the Training list is empty

  • Open Schedule and add a weekly session for the cohort. Sessions appear here once there's a pattern to create them from.
  • If sessions exist but aren't showing for you, your user account may not be linked as a coach of the cohort. Ask an admin to add you.
