S&C Reports: squad summary, trends and insights

S&C Reports turns phase-by-phase test data into the patterns worth acting on: how each squad sits against its targets, which players moved, and what changed between phases.

Where it lives

S&C → Reports. The page reports on one programme at a time — pick it with the Program filter, alongside a Season picker. That's deliberate: a BYL squad's numbers and a Women's squad's numbers aren't a meaningful average. If you see "No data available", complete some testing phases first.

Four tabs:

  • Squad Summary — squad-by-squad averages against your age group targets.
  • Players — the per-player table; click through to any player's S&C profile.
  • Trend Analysis — how results moved across phases.
  • Insights — auto-generated observations from the same data.

Squad Summary

Each squad's average per test, coloured against the age group targets you've configured: green when more than 5% better than target, amber within 5% either side, red when more than 5% worse — with the target itself shown underneath. "Better" respects the test's direction, so a faster sprint time colours green even though the number went down. A Performance Comparison chart below plots any single test across squads.

Trend Analysis

Pick a Test (and optionally an Age Group — the default is All Squads) and you get a card for each squad, badged Better, Worse or Stable from the first phase to the last, with the average and number tested in each phase. Two honesty features worth knowing:

  • Trends need at least two testing phases — with one phase, the tab points you back to Squad Summary for a snapshot instead.
  • If the first and last phases tested different sets of players, the tab flags "Uneven testing between first and last phase" and shows the Squad changes between them, so a "squad improvement" that's really a roster change doesn't fool anyone.

Insights

Plain-language observations rolled up from the data, grouped Needs attention / Worth knowing, with the rest behind More detail. They're reading material rather than a worklist — to act on a named player, find them on the Players tab and open their profile.

Using it in a planning meeting

A short fortnightly walkthrough with the head coach or TD works well:

  1. Squad Summary — scan the colours. Green and improving, move on; amber or red, dig in.
  2. Trend Analysis — pick the metrics that matter for this squad's game and check direction. Note the squad-changes caveat before celebrating.
  3. Players — open the profiles of anyone trending the wrong way and agree what the next fortnight looks like for them.

Per-phase raw results export as CSV from each phase's detail page (Export CSV) — treat exports as confidential.
