Quick answer

How do I configure S&C test settings?

Test Settings configures the tests you run, the targets you're aiming for, and the phase schedule for the season. Set these up before your first testing session.

Where it lives

There's no separate Settings item in the S&C sidebar — Test Settings hangs under Testing. Open the Testing list and follow its Test Settings link. The hub offers three cards: Season Phase Templates, Default Battery and Age Group Targets.

Default Battery

The battery decides which tests are included by default when creating a new testing phase. It's a table of the club's test library with four columns — Include, Test, Category, Trials:

  • Tick Include for the tests your club runs; untick to leave a test out of new phases.
  • Set Trials (1–5) for how many attempts each player gets; bilateral tests carry an L/R badge.
  • Save when done.

The tests themselves — and their measurement units — come from the test library; this screen chooses among them rather than creating new ones. You can still adjust the test list per phase when creating it.

Age Group Targets

One matrix, all ages at once: rows are tests (with category and unit), there's a column for each of the club's age groups. Type a target into any cell and Save — for time-based tests, lower is better, and the reports colour against that automatically.

Targets drive the colour-coding on S&C Reports: squad averages show green when more than 5% better than target, amber within 5% either side, and red when more than 5% worse.

Tip: Use data from previous seasons and relevant sport science literature to set realistic but aspirational targets. FNSW values clubs that take an evidence-based approach to physical development.

Season Phase Templates

Templates define the standard testing schedule — they're what Generate phases from templates creates each season. Each template row has a Phase Name, Phase Type (Pre-Season, In-Season, Mid-Season, End of Season, Ad-Hoc), an Expected Month (shown to parents and players so they know roughly when to expect testing) and the Programs it applies to. Drag to reorder, Add Phase for more, and Save.

When to configure settings

Ideally during the off-season or pre-season:

  1. Default Battery — confirm your test suite before the first testing session
  2. Age Group Targets — set benchmarks before results come in
  3. Season Phase Templates — define before generating the season's schedule

Changing the battery mid-season is possible but may affect comparability across phases.
