Quick answer

How do I manage match day as a coach?

Full walkthrough: Run match day from the touchline in the guide covers this step by step.

The Matches section of your coach portal is where you prepare for upcoming fixtures, manage lineups, and review results.

Before the match

  1. Tap Matches in the navigation.
  2. Tap an upcoming fixture to open the match detail.

From the match detail you have access to several tabs. Which tabs appear depends on whether the match has been played yet:

Pre-match tabs:

  • Lineup — build your starting lineup using the interactive pitch view.
  • Coach Guide — an AI-generated match briefing with insights about the opponent, recent form, and tactical context.

Building your lineup

The Pitch View shows your formation with player positions. Tap a position to assign a player, or move players between positions. Unassigned players appear on the bench. The formation button under the pitch changes the shape (see the formations answer).

Tip: Your lineup is saved automatically as you make changes. You can come back and adjust it at any time before the match.

At the foot of the bench panel (beside the pitch on a computer, below it on a phone), Pre-match presentation puts the starting XI on the video-room screen before kick-off: Present shows it straight away, and Build deck (Open deck once it exists) lets you add the game plan first. See Build and present a deck.

During the match

While the match is in progress, you can record observations directly from the pitch view:

  • Tap Coach Notes in the side panel to add timed notes as the match unfolds.
  • Tap Scouting in the side panel to rate and tag opposition players in real time.

These notes and scouting entries are timestamped with the match minute, making them easy to reference later.

After the match

Once the match is complete, additional tabs appear:

  • H2H — head-to-head history against the opponent (not shown for JDL matches).
  • Notes — a full view of all coach notes recorded during and after the match.
  • Scouting — complete scouting report for opposition players.
  • Results — summary of the score, match events, and squad participation.
  • Load — each player's GPS load for the match, where your squad wears GPS units.

Editing match events after the match

If you missed a goal, recorded one for the wrong player, or got a minute wrong, open the Results tab and tap Make changes. The tab flips into the match sheet — goal and card chips under the score, and a participation chart with a row per player. Tap the thing that's wrong:

  • A goal or card (its chip, or its marker on the chart) — change the minute or the player. Removing a goal removes its assist too, and the editor says so first.
  • The edge of a player's bar — move a substitution's minute; the whole swap moves together.
  • Add — record anything never captured: a goal for either side, a card (Time out in JDL), or a substitution. The pickers only offer players who were on (or off) the pitch at the chosen minute.

Deletes show an Undo for a few seconds. Events with a lock icon are sourced from the league system and can't be edited from Clubhouse. Opposition goals carry only a minute.

Match video

A Video tab appears once the match has any footage: the club camera's highlights or full match, or an FNSW or NPL broadcast recording.

Note: The match venue, time and status are changed in Match Settings on the club's admin fixture page, not from the coach portal. If something needs updating, contact your club admin or see Handling postponed, abandoned, or rescheduled matches.
