Quick answer

How do I watch a match live?

If your club uses Veo cameras, you can watch matches live from inside the app — no extra apps, no logins, no settings to flip on.

When a stream is available

A live stream becomes available a minute or two after the camera at the ground starts recording. You don't have to do anything for it to appear — Clubhouse discovers the stream automatically and links it to the matching fixture.

When that happens, two things change in the app:

  • A live match banner appears at the top of your home screen showing the score as it changes.
  • On the match's page, a new Live Stream tab appears first, alongside the live view's other tabs — Match Stats (the pitch view with the clock, score and events) and Match Info.

Getting a push when a stream goes live

By default you'll get one push the first time the stream is detected:

BYL U12 is streaming live vs Sutherland — tap to watch.

(Players see "Your match is streaming live" instead.)

Tapping the push takes you to the Live tab with that match already playing at the top — the stream and the big score load immediately. You don't need to open the match page or switch to the Live Stream tab. The push is sent once per stream — if the camera stops and restarts mid-match, you'll get a new push for the new session.

There isn't a separate switch for this notification in Notification preferences at the moment. The Match Updates tab controls live scores and final scores, team by team.

Watching from the app

You can open a live stream in two ways:

  1. From the push — tap the "streaming live" notification and you'll land on the Live tab with that game playing.
  2. From the match page — open the match (from Up Next, the live banner, or the Matches tab), then tap the Live Stream tab.

The video starts playing automatically. A live score overlay in the top-right corner shows the current score, the phase (1st, HT, 2nd or Paused) and the match minute, drawn from whoever is tracking the match in the app. In a senior match, added time reads the way a broadcast shows it, such as 45+2'.

The overlay sticks with the video, so if you switch to fullscreen you still see the score without leaving the player.

Going fullscreen on your phone

Tap the small fullscreen button at the bottom-right of the player. On most phones the video will rotate into landscape and lock the orientation so it stays the right way up when you tilt the phone. To exit, tap the same button (now showing the "minimise" icon) or swipe down — the orientation lock releases automatically.

Note for iPhone Safari users: Some iPhones don't allow apps to take over the full screen the normal way, so we use a workaround that rotates the video for you. It still fills the screen — the corner buttons might just look slightly different.

Watching live First Grade games

First Grade games carried on the Football NSW broadcast can be watched inside Clubhouse too — not just your own club's, but every game in that competition.

The quickest way in is the Live segment of the Matches tab. League games sit in the same list as your own club's, in kickoff order, and anything on air carries a Watch button. Tap it and the game plays at the top of the tab. See Watching live games across the club for the full tour.

You can also get there from a round of results:

  1. Open the Matches tab, go to Results, and switch the View picker to Whole competition.
  2. A game that's being broadcast right now shows its live score and a red ticking match minute in the middle of the row, with a Watch button at the end.
  3. Tap that row and you're taken to the Live tab with that broadcast playing: the Football NSW stream, and the score strip snapped directly beneath it with team crests, names, live score and match clock.

The score and clock keep updating while you watch. The rest of the weekend stays listed underneath the picture, so you can move to another live game in one tap without leaving the page, and when the game you're on finishes an Up next countdown hands you across to another one that's still going — tap Watch now to jump straight over or Stay to remain. Once a league game finishes, its row goes to Results, and tapping it there opens the full match page (line-ups, events, head-to-head) with the official goalscorers as soon as Football NSW publishes them. If a game is live but the broadcast isn't available, you'll still see the live score with a note that the stream isn't available right now.

The public Live Hub

Every club also has a public Live Hub page that shows every live stream at the club, side by side with the day's scores. It's the easiest link to share with grandparents and supporters who don't have Clubhouse installed:

https://dashboard.clubhouseapp.com.au/live/your-club-slug

(Your admin can find the exact link for your club in Settings → Integrations → Veo → Watch live.) No login required.

The Live Hub shows league and championship games only. Trial games the club adds itself, and their streams, stay inside Clubhouse. An internal match (filmed training) isn't shown live anywhere, inside Clubhouse or out.

If the stream isn't there

A few common reasons the Live Stream tab might not appear:

  • The camera hasn't started recording yet. Streams usually appear within ~60 seconds of the operator starting the Veo recording at the ground. If you see "Waiting for the camera to start…" in the player, the match is linked correctly and the stream will begin playing automatically the moment the camera goes live — there's nothing you need to do.
  • The match isn't linked to the camera yet. If the automatic linker couldn't decide which match a camera was filming (tied kickoffs at the same venue, brand-new opponent names, etc.) your admin needs to pick the match manually. They can do that in Settings → Integrations → Veo.
  • Your club doesn't use Veo. The Live Stream tab only appears for clubs with Veo cameras connected — there's no setting to enable it on your side.
  • The match has ended. The Live Stream tab goes away once the stream stops. The full match recording will appear under the Video tab a few hours later, once Veo has finished processing it.
