Quick answer

I'm not receiving notifications — how do I fix this?

Clubhouse sends notifications for fixture changes, match reminders, training updates, and other important updates. Here is how to make sure you are receiving them.

Step 1: Check your in-app notification settings

  1. Tap your profile picture at the top of the screen to open the menu.
  2. Tap Settings, then Notification preferences.

Parents: Open the Reminders & Alerts tab. You will see categories such as Schedule Changes, Match Reminders, Training Reminders, and — if one of your children is in the Mixed JDL — Squad Selections. Each category has one switch; make sure it is on. Live scores and final scores are on the Match Updates tab. The one text-message setting is SMS for urgent changes, which also texts you when a match is cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours.

No Squad Selections category? That's expected unless a child of yours plays in the Mixed JDL. It's the Friday message telling you whether your child is in the Blue or the White team, so it only appears where an age group fields two teams. Every other programme, Girls JDL included, has one team per age group — the squad doesn't change week to week, so there's nothing to announce and you get the ordinary Match Reminder with an arrive-by time instead.

Note: Match Reminders and Training Reminders are delivered via app notifications only — make sure push notifications are enabled on your device to receive them. A match cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours can also reach you by text, if SMS for urgent changes is on.

Suspension Alerts are sent to coaches and technical directors only — if your child receives an automatic suspension, your coach will let you know (and the match selection update will come through as a Schedule Change).

What ships as default-on for parents and players. A handful of categories are on by default because they're operational rather than optional — match reminders, training reminders, live match scores, live stream started, fixture changes, club event invitations, and club event reminders. If you've never opened the Notifications screen and are still missing one of these, it's almost certainly a device-level problem (Step 2), not an in-app preference. See Manage your notification preferences for the full list and the rationale.

Players: You will see categories like Schedule Changes, Match Reminders, Training Reminders, and — in the Mixed JDL — Squad Selections. Match and training reminders are push-only.

Coaches (Club Staff): Your notification settings are organised by squad. Each squad shows its own categories (e.g. fixture changes, match reminders). Make sure notifications are enabled for the squads you manage, and keep push notifications on — match and training reminders are sent via push only.

Step 2: Check your device notification settings

iPhone: Go to device Settings > Notifications > Clubhouse. Make sure Allow Notifications is on, and that Banners, Sounds, and Badges are all enabled.

Android: Go to device Settings > Apps > Clubhouse > Notifications. Make sure notifications are allowed and not set to "Silent."

Important for Android users: Some devices with aggressive battery optimisation (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei) can block background notifications. Search your device settings for "Battery optimisation" and exempt Clubhouse.

Step 3: Check your contact details

  1. Tap your profile picture > Settings.
  2. Tap Mobile Number and confirm it is correct (SMS notifications go here).
  3. Tap Email Address and confirm it is correct (email notifications go here).

Still not working?

  • Force-close the Clubhouse app and reopen it.
  • If you recently reinstalled the app, you may need to re-allow push notifications when prompted.
