Quick answer

How do I mark my child as available or report an absence?

You can let the coaching staff know your child's availability for both training and matches from anywhere their event appears in the app.

What the four statuses mean

  • Going — your child will attend.
  • Away — unavailable for non-medical reasons (school camp, family event, holiday).
  • Sick — your child is unwell.
  • Injured — your child has an injury. Picking this also opens the injury form so you can capture body region, side and onset in one continuous flow. See How parent-reported injuries work.

Three statuses your coach sets

You'll occasionally see a status you didn't set, in purple or orange:

  • Training up — your child has been called into another squad's session, so they're not expected at their own squad's training. Tapping the pill explains who set it; there's nothing to save, because the status belongs to the coach. If it isn't right, speak to your coach and they'll change it.
  • Modified — your coach has adjusted what your child does at training (a return-to-play plan, a lighter load). Your child is still expected, so this one stays editable — if they then fall sick or pick up an injury, report it exactly as you normally would.
  • Rehab (orange) — your child is still coming to training, but doing their own rehab work with the physio or in the gym instead of team training. It covers training only, so it doesn't take them out of a match. Like Modified, it stays editable if they then can't come at all.

From the home screen (Up Next)

Every row in Up Next has a status pill on the right (Going / Away / Sick / Injured). Tap it to change your child's availability for that event — the pill opens a quick Availability bottom sheet pre-filled with the right child, event and date. Pick the status, then confirm with the button at the bottom — Confirm Attending for Going, or Report Absence for the rest. Nothing changes until you tap it.

From the Calendar

Every training and match row in the Calendar tab shows the same status pill. Tap it to open the same quick bottom sheet — no need to navigate into the event first.

Tapping the row itself (rather than the pill) opens the event's detail:

  • Training rows open a detail sheet. Tap Update availability to expand the picker inline below the session details — no second sheet stacks on top. Set status, duration, add a note for the coach, and confirm with Confirm Attending / Report Absence.
  • Match rows navigate to the match detail page. The attendance button at the top of that page does the same thing.

From a match detail page

If you opened a match directly (from a fixture list, a notification, or a link), the attendance button sits at the top of the page — it reads Attending while your child is marked in, or the absence status (Away, Sick, Injured) when not. Tap it to open the picker.

Duration when reporting an absence

After picking Away, Sick, or Injured, choose how long the absence lasts:

  • This Match or This Session — just this one event.
  • This Week — covers both training and matches for 7 days from the event's date.
  • Longer — pick a from / to date for an extended absence (school holidays, recovery from a longer-term injury, etc.). Longer absences also cover both training and matches across the date range.

You'll also be asked for a note in the Details for box, which names your coach — required for any non-attending status. A short reason is enough ("school camp", "head cold", "ankle, expected back next week").

Multi-child families

The picker shows a Player dropdown if the row applies to more than one of your children, with an All Players option to set the same status for all linked kids at once. For single-child rows the dropdown is hidden — the pre-selected child is the only one the event applies to.

Toggling back to Going

Open the picker the same way and pick Going. The existing absence row is cleared and the coach sees you back as available.

Good to know: Coaching staff see your response straight away — it helps with team selection and session planning. Updating early makes a real difference.

Going somewhere far in advance? Use Longer with the date-range picker — one update covers the whole period. You don't have to set Away on every individual session.
