Quick answer
How do I arrange my squad on a pitch during the season?
Each age group has a List | Pitch switch on its squad card, all season, not only while you plan next year. Pitch shows the team in a formation you arrange by hand. Nothing on it changes a registration or a match-day lineup: it is a shared plan.
- Technical directors and admins: open the programme's Squads page. Every age group's card has the switch at the right of its heading, in the season being played and in next season once the club has set it up. An earlier season shows its list only.
- Coaches: open your squad from Squads. The switch sits on the roster card's heading.
The card's heading tells you when a board already exists, before you press anything, for example 18 players · 11 on the pitch or Blue 9 · White 8 on the pitch. A board you built in preseason is the same board once the season starts, so nothing needs redoing at changeover.
- Players appear in shirt-number order down the left, with anyone who has no number at the end. Placing someone never moves the list.
- Each player's card shows their shirt number. A rose dot means suspended and an amber dot means injured. Either can still be placed: the dot is there to remind you, not to stop you.
- On a Mixed JDL age group, a player standing on the other colour's board says so in the list, for example Blue team.
- The season being played lists only its squad: its teams are set, so there's no Offers or Targets list. Those appear on next season's board while you're still building it.
The board belongs to the age group, not to one person. Your coaches and your technical director see and edit the same team, and it saves itself a moment after you stop moving players. The footer says when it last changed, for example Last changed Yesterday, 5:30pm, so you can tell if someone has been in since your last visit. If two people save at once, the later one sees the other's version and a note saying why.
A coach of a Mixed JDL colour team opens on their own colour and can switch to the other one.
A recruit your technical director has placed shows as Recruit · TD only if you can't see recruitment. You can't move them or drop anyone onto that position, and your changes leave them where they are.
If a player leaves the squad, their card stays on the board until the next change, which takes them off and tells you once, for example 1 player no longer in the squad was taken off the board.
