Quick answer

Where do I find my club's retention and release policy?

Every season your club decides which players it offers a place to for the following year. Your club publishes how it makes those decisions, and Clubhouse gives you that policy in full rather than a summary of it.

Finding it

Retention & Release policy opens from:

  • the Our Retention & Release policy link on an offer, and
  • the link in any email your club sends about an end-of-season decision.

The page opens with How our club approaches end-of-season player decisions, followed by your club's own policy text. The words are your club's, not Clubhouse's — so what it covers, and how much detail it goes into, varies between clubs.

What a policy usually covers

Most clubs use it to set out:

  • when in the year decisions are made, and when families hear
  • what's taken into account
  • what happens if a player isn't offered a place, and what support is available
  • how to ask questions about a decision

If your child wasn't offered a place

Read the policy first — it will usually tell you the club's process and who to speak to. Then contact the club directly. Clubhouse shows you the decision and the policy behind it; it isn't where a decision gets reviewed.

Not being offered a place at one club has no effect on registering at another. Nothing in Clubhouse holds a player anywhere.

If cost is what's making next season hard

That's a separate conversation from a retention decision, and worth having with the club early.

If you have a concern about how a decision was handled

Retention decisions are football decisions, and your club handles those. If your concern is about someone's conduct or a child's wellbeing rather than a football judgement, that goes through a different, confidential channel — see Safeguarding and member protection.
